Aliases: Roseheart, red meat radish, beauty heart radish, red daikon, shinrimei radish.
Cousins: Arugula, broccoli, turnips, cabbage.

How to choose: The radishes should be firm and dense.

Spotlight: Celeriac

Aliases: Celery root, knob celery, turnip-rooted celery.

Cousins: Anise, carrots, parsley, and parsnips.

How to choose: Select a firm celeriac that feels heavy for its size. Avoid soft spots, rootlets, and hollow centers. Older celeriac will have a less potent celery flavor than fresher ones.

Crib Sheet: Roasting A Chicken

These are the instructions (almost verbatim) my husband gave me for roasting a chicken, seasoned with apple & lemon. Everything went well considering I prepared and roasted the chicken… upside-down?! Husband made me feel a little better when he informed me that some people PREFER to cook a chicken this way. Huh! TIL.
